How do you support publishers through migrations?
We specialise in large or custom migrations where publishers have extensive archives, big member lists, or bespoke tooling needs. For most publishers, our improved self-service import tools are the default path. If neither option fits and no native importer exists, we'll recommend a certified Ghost Expert.
Do you migrate from my current platform?
We have native or self-service support for Newspack, WordPress, Substack, Beehiiv, Squarespace, Mailchimp, Medium, self-hosted Ghost, and some CMS platforms that can provide exports. Tell us what you're using, if we can't handle it in-house, we'll point you to an Expert.
What can I expect?
Once you've completed the form, you can expect a reply from us within 24hrs (Monday to Thursday), with a recommended migration path or clarifying questions.
How long does a migration take?
Self-service publishers can get started right away. Managed migrations typically complete in 7–21 days, however extremely large or custom migrations may take longer. When you contact the team we will discuss scheduling the migration based on our capacity and your timeline.
How much does the Migrations service cost?
For most migrations, where a publisher is on a Business or Custom plan, our in house service is free. We also have a range of in-built migration tools within the Ghost admin that are also free to use. If you need help from a Ghost Expert, they set their own fees, which you pay them directly.
Will I lose my SEO rankings?
No. We preserve your URL structure wherever possible and set up 301 redirects for any unavoidable changes so search engines (and readers) land on the right pages.
Is my content safe during migration?
Yes. We migrate everything into a private staging site first, run integrity checks, and don't touch your live site until you approve the switch.
How are paid subscribers and Stripe handled?
Moving paid members requires extra care and we're happy to share more information about the steps involved.
Can I migrate myself?
Absolutely. Our built in importers cover WordPress, Substack, Squarespace, Mailchimp, Medium and more. Follow the step-by-step guide; if you hit a snag, our support team can review your export or redirects file.
Would you help me design my theme?
Theme design isn't part of the migration scope, but we can introduce you to trusted Ghost Experts who can build or customise a theme to match your brand.
Would you help me with integrations?
As with custom theme development, we do not provide a service for building or maintaining 3rd party integrations. We would recommend looking at our integrations directory, and speaking to an expert if you need support.
